  • How will I be able to access my materials?
After purchase, all materials will be downloadable as a ZIP file. The package includes PDFs of paper materials, and WAV files of all demo recordings.
  • Are these resources suitable for beginners?
Yes! I've tried to make these materials easily accessible, whether this is your first time tackling a dialect, or you're a seasoned pro. Your comfort with the dialect will ultimately come down to your practice. Don't get discouraged, keep going, and you'll be great!
  • How long will it take to learn the dialect?
In general, with dedicated practice, you can expect to start to get a handle on these dialects within a week or so. The more you practice, the faster you'll catch on! That being said, there are a number of factors at play that can affect learning time. For example, non-English-based dialects will always take a bit longer to master, due to the presence of sounds that are not present in our everyday speech. It will feel strange at first, but push past the discomfort. You can do it!
  • Do you offer support after I've purchased a package?
Absolutely! I offer live services to give you the opportunity to meet with me one-on-one if you need some extra help. Additionally, I'll always reply to emails! Let me know how I can best assist.
  • How do I know which dialect is right for my production?
We've taken as much guesswork out of this as possible with our production packages! If you're doing a show that is not listed, email us. We're happy to steer you in the right direction, or develop a package for you.
  • What if I'm not satisfied with my purchase?
I want you to be completely satisfied with your purchase. If there's anything I can do to better your experience, please don't hesitate to reach out to me!
  • What is the difference between an accent and a dialect?
Great question! An accent refers to the way people in a specific region pronounce words. A dialect refers to pronunciation, as well as syntax, unique phrases and colloquialisms.
  • Where do dialects come from?
Over the course of generations, various factors affecting a region results in a cohesive way of speaking within its inhabitants. Some of these factors may be weather (i.e. a tendency to speak more quickly in colder climates), primary industries (i.e. speaking nasally to be heard over a loud factory can affect resonance over the course of generations), or settlement history (i.e. Bostonians still dropping their 'R' sounds, centuries after the British settled in Plymouth). The repetition of these factors over the course of years ultimately affects the way the settlers in that area speak. Cool, huh?
  • What is it called when you try to sound like a real person?
This would be copying a person's IDIOLECT. If a DIALECT is all of the grammar/syntax/pronunciations/special phrases for a specific region, an IDIOLECT is all of these factors within the speech of one specific person.
  • Will this make it any easier to learn another language?
Yes and no. The process of learning dialects will encourage you to use your ears and experiment with different ways to use your voice. This can aid in pronunciations of foreign words with authenticity, which will bolster your communication skills when you begin to learn a new language. As far as actually understanding what is being said in a different language? Unlikely.
